I think that this is a lot like the Mac Allister transfer tbh.

I think that Napoli are being seriously overlooked as a club, by us fans tbh. They are a big club, won Serie A not last season but the season before, they play Champions League football on a regular basis. He has a very decent chance of winning things there.

So this is a very good move for him and I think the club simply recognises this and aren’t trying to stand in his way too much. It’s also good optics for us as a club, that young players coming here will get the chance to shine, move to bigger clubs and that we won’t be overly difficult about it when the time comes.
His career as a midfielder should greatly benefit from Conte's coaching. I dare say he will add 'verticalization' to Billy's game.Good luck to him, always welcome back.

I don’t agree with this at all. It’s clear we’ve been trying to get him to stay and don’t want to sell him, and the time he has played in FH’s team so far showed he is fine in his system.

Yeah, we definitely disagree here. Saying we don't want him to go is either a) to keep the price up a bit, or b) because we want him in the squad, not first 11. I'm guessing b).

He’s perfectly good enough to be in the first 11 in our system, and it’s only been spurious guessing from fans that lead to a conclusion otherwise. I suspect they are letting him go because it’s a good move for him and we will get a profit on him.

We're paying £30/£40m on new players who we don't know for sure will adapt and become first 11 regulars. There's just no way that we're letting someone we consider starting 11, go for £20m. No way.

They'd be after it - but would they get it?

Gilmour's reported move to Napoli has been very public for weeks - and the fact that he is apparently available, at such a modest price does not seem to have prompted any other clubs to get involved.
Indeed. Billy’s transfer fee has been and will always be restricted by his lack of goal contributions. Not entirely a criticism but he rather falls between two stools - not an attacking midfielder and not a defensive midfielder - a playmaker who occupies a central space, does what he does very well, but it’s not a super star role that attracts mega-£££££££s)

@El Presidente posted this graphic last night. Seems that Napoli, like ourselves, are no slouches at 'adding market value to new signings'. Maybe that's why they're hopeful of buying WBG at a knockdown price?

Exactly. This idea we are letting him go to be charitable. Napoli are a HUGE club. Likely to be back in Europe next season under one of the most successful managers around who rates him. Of course he may want to experience that.
The whole thing is very weird. WBG seems / seemed very happy here and is / was playing at the very top of his game. What gives? ???

We do know "Not being frozen out".

Perhaps Napoli approached his agent and Gilmour is very interested.

Whilst the Albion, subject to a fee they consider acceptable, are sticking to their tried n trusted any individual may leave if it's right for the club.

If he stays, it'll still be fine. We're not talking about a sulker.

Possible, but if he's a first choice player I'd expect the club to say 'that's ok, we won't stand in your way, but it has to be a proper offer'. And a proper offer for a 23 year old top half PL midfielder who we want to keep, is not <= £20m

It might be, if the sell on is a huge percentage 🤣

Really suprised one of the promoted clubs aren't interested in taking him on loan tbh. If they don't pretty sure an overseas club will take a punt.

If we loan Moder, he'll leave for free at the end of the loan. That's why we're open to a sale.

Decent pro giving 100% wherever he plays
That's so suspicious though.
Why isn't he just sitting on the bench, counting his salary and releasing new tracks like Locadia would have?
