Is he heck. He'll end up moving permanently to a lower league club and then drifting into non league. Absolutely no chance that guy ever becomes your first choice keeper. You're looking through red and blue tinted specs there just because he's a lifelong Palace fan
He genuinely is a talented young keeper. The odds are against him because he's only six foot tall, but he has saved three penalties this season already which is extremely impressive. He seems to be something of a specialist in that department, and he's a fine shot stopper.

It remains to be seen whether he'll be able to cope with the sort of aerial bombardment you might face against a big Championship side, or someone like West Ham in the PL for that matter. Still, he's only 20. To be starting regularly in League 1 at such a young age is no mean feat.

I also believe his dad was a palace fan who unfortunately died just as he was signed for palace as a kid..it was in the sky documentary and produced a tear or two.

So yes we would like him to succeed.

( I hope I have the correct keeper there )

No, that would be Billy Eastwood (the documentary was on Channel 4).

Come on, you know the rules. All Palace prospects are future Ballon d'Or winners. Has their ever been a better player at the Amex the Joniesta?

I think every fan of every club hopes that players coming from the youth or academy will be great players, I mean how many wonder kids have teams had when they are 15 only to disappear by the time they are 20.

Going back 5 - 10 years, we didn't have huge expectations of of young players, but we'd always get Palace fans on here telling us every prospect was the messiah. Maybe other teams do it a fair bit, but they're not posting on here, so we got it a fair bit from your lot.

Wan Bissaka came through, and is still doing it at Selhurst, well last Saturday anyway.
The cash United stumped up for him a few years back paid for the new main stand they were building at the time, without that they would still have a dilapidated shit hole, on all four sides.

I know that was tongue in cheek, but the money actually paid for the new academy.

I remember a specific occasion of @Dougie telling us with confidence that Sully KaiKai, in Palace's U21s at the time, was a far better player than Solly March who ws just breaking into the BHA first team squad. Guess which player spent the majority of his career playing in the Premier League and which has spent most of his at League 1 level.

As I said, these kids can be super at 16 and then just not progress, that’s why we have professional coaches at different ages to see who is going to make it and who isn’t.

agreed, a lot can happen in a players career to derail it and alternatively some players push on

I remember when we were both in the championship and there really wasn't much between Will Buckley and Zaha, in fact Buckley was perhaps the more effective player at the time. Unfortunately Buckley's career got absolutely destroyed by injuries and he retired aged 30, with his stint at Albion his career peak. Meanwhile Zaha clearly knuckled down after his poor spell at Man U and went on to have a good career. Similarly, Liam Bridcutt was a superb player for us in the championship but stupidly followed Gus to Sunderland and was never able to replicate that form anywhere else.

Meanwhile the likes of March have clicked slightly later into their careers

For Oliver Glasner, who was hoping to make it a fifth successive Premier League victory at home for the first time in Palace’s history, this was worrying evidence that things may not be so easy for the Austrian after his instant impact last season.

“We can’t dream of what we were doing three months ago, we have to be in the present,” he said. “It’s now up to us to keep calm and not be too disappointed – we will sleep really bad tonight but tomorrow the sun will rise.”

This is so sad, Alexa play Despacito

So CPFC have selected their first team tonight. Interesting call, given they play Chelsea on Sunday.

Paper thin squad I guess or maybe they’re practicing a three games a week gig in preparation for their much talked about 2025/2026 European tour…
