The dull part of the south coast
Would you want your pension fund savings (effectively your deferred wages) invested in an overseas football club you have probably never heard of? I presume its an investment so they will want to recover the £140 million they spent on Ipswich.
And as a special bonus on reaching retirement age you will receive . . . . a tractor.

That's bloody mad. How many clubs make a profit? Brighton and ? Yep nobody!

When we play them at The Amex, we should throw them a curve ball. As the teams walk out, we unravel a huge banner that reads: 'There are some things money can buy: Pack of five jam ball doughnuts, Asda - £1.15. Bosh.'
1.15? Don’t you know there is a cost of living crisis? Must be at least a few quid!

And why does it have to be a ball doughnut?

Ring is traditional.

I wonder how their fans feel now that Ipswich is owned by an American VC group and an American pension fund.

Gamechanger 20 Ltd took over the club in April 2021 with funds from the Arizona state pension fund. Bright Path Sports Partners, a US-based private equity firm, bought 44% in March 2024.

I remember that banner really well.
My dad had had a cardiac arrest outside the ground in the November. The Ipswich home game was his first game back after his recovery.
I went with my Dad and promised my mum that whatever happened I’d be really calm as my Dad was anxious about returning to the Amex.
And I was calm, until they rolled out that banner.
I shouted abuse at them, flicked a few v signs before regaining my composure.
What an incredibly stupid banner it was after we’d been through what we had, as a club.

Can't believe how much they have spent - more than Fulham - in the past five years, hardly the fairytale it's made out.

Yeah but no one was spending big on players in League One so net spend for them is a bit of a nonsense

I really hope that banner is still knocking around and whoever has it brings it back when they come to the Amex. The global PL audience deserves to see it!

I think about that banner on a weekly basis. Really good stuff.
I think you either have a million thoughts spinning around your head at any given time, or not many at all...

Which is it? ??? :lolol:
