Three at the back means, yet another of the huge number of midfielders / attackers on our books doesn't get a game.

I can't see it
My understanding of the 3 CBs in Hurzeler's system, is that the central CB is effectively the deep lying "pivot".
My assumption is that Weiffer is fulfilling that role.

I agree we don't need any cover at CB.
Webster unlucky that Dunk is undroppable, he was very decent in pre-season and improved us at Everton, when he came on for Dunk.

I reckon we’ll have reconsidered on Boscagli. If we can’t get him cheap we’ll have given him the nod that we’ll sign him next summer when his contract expires. Nice signing on fee for him. Webster and Igor can cover until then.
Reckon both will play on Tuesday.

For me, only reason we buy another centre back is if we can find a pacy left footed one. If not, then we already have the numbers.
I have a different theory.

Boscagli is useful for four different reasons.

1. He is in the last year of his contract so represents value for money.

2. He is a mid-twenties player. The type RDZ yearned for. We need players of this profile to balance the age differential in the squad.

3. He is a left footed Veltman. He really is. When we signed Veltman, he’d played right back around 40% of the time for Ajax. Boscagli has played left back over 60 times so could add a more defensive option for Hürzeler when we are dealing with the DDD again (Dull Dyche Diagonals).

4. He is a brilliant deep lying playmaker. He’ll be able to hit Mitoma and Minteh, time after time with pin point accuracy.

I think we will end up 3 at the back

All your 3 above are ok for a game or 2 but would cost us over any period

Opinions
Very much agree. Decent stand in players against mid/bottom half opposition but having any of them starting at CB against a top 6 club makes me very nervous.

On top of that, the structure of the recruitment policy is having a player to pick up the mantle if a starting player leaves. I don't think we have that at CB if someone came in for JPvH and Dunk isn't getting any younger. Reinforcements for the future definitely needed
