As @Milano correctly states, 12.30 ko's brings DEATH to any atmosphere, no matter what the stadium / fixture.

No time to properly savour the buildup, no time on the grog, your morning is just spent getting to the bloody ground in time. I cuffing HATE 12.30's. Its the worst time of day for footballering.

Yes they got Sussex by the Sea badly wrong. They faded the music out early on in the verse, which meant half the crowd went whizzing off at speed. When they then reintroduced the music the crowd were ahead so it sounded dreadful.
Music on for the verse and then off when the chorus is started(as usual) is far better - and lose the words!!!!

Those new speaker things dotted about are probably the most impressive I've seen since in Robert Duvall's helicopter in Apocalypse Now, yet they they still messed up GOSBTS.

I'm in a different seat this year, a little more central but still more north than south, so I don't know if my perception of the atmosphere is simply skewed by an unfamiliar vantage point. But it did feel like a very flat Amex yesterday. First home game of the season, Man Utd the visitors, exciting new manager, almost certainly the best squad we've ever had, and top of the table after thumping Everton away. Yes, 12.30 kick-off. But even so.

Standard first match of the season incompetence everywhere. Parking stewards, crossing steward (why?), bar staff , stadium announcer, the person who is meant to fade out GOSBTS for the last bit, pretty much the same every season. Things tend to improve once the students come back.

Just my opinion obviously, but I despise that 'medley' with a passion. I would take the sounds of the Palace coach driver in the away dressing room shitters over it, so the bar isn't too high for me personally.

The ground filled up really late today, I'd say it was still half empty 10 mins before KO. I'm sure we'll get it going a bit more before the Ipswich game.
So what tunes would you play?

Fan Zone gone - tick
Hey Jude gone - tick

Now put Praise You where Hey Jude was and that will get the crowd going.

"We've come a long, long way together
Through the hard times and the good
I have to celebrate you, baby
I have to praise you like I should"

Great way to start a match.
Always wondered why that wasn't played, almost an unofficial anthem for us.

And no immediate pre-kick off music leading to.... absolute silence from the whole ground. I thought we were always told the music stiffled the organic atmosphere. As fans we are simply incapable of creating a proper atmosphere 80% of the time.

I highly doubt it.
