[Albion] Newcastle away travel

Not sure if people have started organising but a heads up that LNER services are much reduced due to engineering works, and journey times over 4 hours from Kings Cross. Prices very high as a result. In fact only one train after the game to get you back to London direct which is likely to be rammed. Suspect a long drive ahead for many!

And of course possible strike action

Last updated: 16 August 2024

Industrial action has been announced at LNER on Saturdays and Sundays from 31 August to 10 November 2024.

We're working quickly to understand the impact this will have on our planned timetables for these dates and will be contacting affected customers once plans are confirmed. If strike action goes ahead, we'll be running a reduced timetable.

The following dates will be affected:

  • Saturday 31 August - Sunday 1 September (tickets for these dates have now been removed from sale.)
  • Saturday 7 - Sunday 8 September
  • Saturday 14 - Sunday 15 September
  • Saturday 21 - Sunday 22 September
  • Saturday 28 - Sunday 29 September
  • Saturday 5 - Sunday 6 October
  • Saturday 12 - Sunday 13 October
  • Saturday 19 - Sunday 20 October

Could the date of the game still move?

No - the TV picks for that weekend have already been chosen.

Is there another reason the game could still move?

It's set at Saturday 3pm as far as I can tell..
Definitely my understanding too! I hope so in any case as I’ve booked travel!

My apologies - I missed that - I assumed the dates for that weekend were still to be announced.

Thanks for the heads up.

They say that the fixture list is purely random.
And yet I take my holidays to match the 'international break' plus an away game which, in October, always seems to be Newcastle away.

That would be incredible……. if wasn’t for the fact we last played them (home or) away in October 6 years ago, and before that we last played them away in October in 1961!

I only checked as recall very few October aways in Geordieland!

Thanks for heads up - Normally go to this, but missed last year - Assume it didnt sell out, but did it drop to 'all tix' or shut at previous history ?

IIRC it sold out to members (rather than those with a purchase history, as in the case of Everton away this season and Burnley away last season). Happy to be corrected though.

It wasn’t the full allocation though was it ? We took the reduced number (about 1500 from memory), toon can split the blocks in the away end.

Originally the bottom level for sales was Albion + members but in the end there was a window for purchase history. Blocks were opened as sales progressed, final total released about 2200 of which we sold just over 2000.
Our unreleased blocks were put back to be sold to home fans.
