But it tallies with other things we're seeing. Baleba left back in pre season, Hinsh LB at Goodison, pursuit of someone who seems to be a left back.

Also I'm gettina sense that Fabi doesn't seem to want 18 / 19 / 20 year olds in his side. He’s happy with 22 / 23 year olds, (OK, Hinsh played at Everton, but I think there are 4 others, who would have played ahead of him at LB but for injury) but I think there is a pattern developing that the age of us fielding very young players is coming to an end

That's not been as possible as they may have liked over the last couple of seasons.

However, I think that you've picked up on something. The club has been playing catch up on it's succession planning after a whirlwind couple of seasons and it's probable that the plan for the youngsters to get experience and come in more physically ready is more a reversion to our original method that has recently been disrupted by departures and injuries. Just because the club didn't come to an agreement over working with RDZ, doesn't mean that they didn't consider the validity of some of his complaints and look to where improvement was possible. The investment this summer has been astonishing, but we will have to satisfy future PSR rules and Barber on TalkSport seemed to be expecting to recoup some of that investment from sales over the next few seasons and is presumably planning for that.
