He's great. Quality player, turned consummate broadcaster.
That he has a social conscience and manages to so terribly trigger the gammon population, is just a huge bonus.

He’s a great presenter, glad he’s there. Don’t always agree with his politics, but I agree his wind-ups are effective and funny (and often from his position of privilege).

Far from my favourite presenter as I'm very dull and old school. I'm not into all the silliness. But I am a DULLARD.
That said, I have no beef with him and am a bit bewildered by all the hate. He is paid a lot, but there are bench warmers in the Premier League who earn much more.

Concerned that Chappers not about on MOTD2 on Sunday. He hasn't been potted has he?
Did some work at Hay Festival this year and got to hear him speak and (very briefly) have a quick chat with him. Really unassuming bloke in person, very down to earth, no entourage (one of the only celebrities with no handler). and spoke with a huge amount of humility.
He said something really interesting about how when he retired from football his only aim was to do Match of the Day and went away and got as much advice and training as he could to become as good as he has become today. Hearing him talk about the hard work he felt he needed to put in to do the job properly is a testament to him, and not something we always see when ex-players move into punditry.
He did a ton of Olympic coverage so presumably just having a bit of a break/holiday. He's still the face of the show on iPlayer.
He'll either be on radio duty for the Paralympics or back on the MotD2 set soon. He's rightly one of the BBC's prize assets.

Linekar is now in National Treasure territory, he has been an excellent presenter for MotD and the Beeb in general.

It's beautiful watching MOTD on a Sunday morning. You can fast forward to the bit where the teams come out. Then watch the highlights and the post-match interviews. Then turn it off (but not on again) 
Time for a change then! Not because he isn't good at the job (tbf, he is), but because this is an area where the BBC really should be making savings. For some reason they have been massively overpaying him for years - there are lots of people who could do the job equally well for a fraction of the cost.
