I found it vaguely amusing and had no idea about that fact. Was Tommy Cooper a racist?
Having googled this I am not convinced it can be considered racist?

‘Pretty reliable’ equates to more often right than wrong, not ‘always right.’ So no, not a joke, it is infact a very accurate statement. Despite his misgivings, he is undeniably more informative than anyone else, for better or worse. I for one have a very accurate read on the man, treat everything he says with the appropriate amount of scrutiny and couldn’t be further from either dumb, or one of his worshippers. I bought a fez when I went to Istanbul (I didn't then wear it out and about as I walked around the city), so I see absolutely no reason why the club shop shouldn't start selling them as well.
Actually, given I lost mine at some point, I'd really appreciate it if they did. I also lost the beret I bought in Paris so if they could sell those as well that'd be great.
