[Football] Why hasn't anyone (esp Chelsea) bought Ivan Toney?

He's a decent age, proven goalscorer, only one year left on his contract and clearly Brentford are looking to move him on. Seems odd that one of the bigger clubs haven't snapped him up.

“A lot of things are going on with Ivan, especially with transfers, there’s a lot of transfer interest. Because of all that, we’ve decided not to include him in the squad,” Frank told Sky Sports before kick-off. “I can’t give too much away the day before. Of course Ivan is a top player, we all know that. He has been fantastic for us for four years but we showed last season we can cope without him.”

There are stories that Arsenal dropped their internet due to Toney’s character. The fact that no one else has moved for him makes this seem possible. Equally the above could be 2+2=5.

He's 28 years old, so from a buying club POV, will likely have little / no resale value. that rules out clubs who buy as investment.

From his own POV this is his one BIG chance to earn really huge money. His wage demands, I'd imagine, are massive.

Going to Saudi? Nobody is competing with their wages and willingness to pay through the nose on a transfer. Last big payday at 28

Parish also said Palace could end their interest in re-signing Wilfried Zaha, with issues over tax set to scupper a loan move from Galatasaray. “I’d have Wilf Zaha back in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’ll be possible this summer,” he said.

Oh, what a bummer!!!!!

Age, I suspect a bit of a difficult character , wages. And out of the ‘top’ clubs who would want him?

Allegedly he met Arsenal in the summer who decided not to take the interest any further.

Don’t forget Brentford want £50M and would happily let him run his deal down it seems.

He'll move on transfer deadline to whatever club that couldn't get who they were actually looking for.

Thats my bet... but I wonder what his is?

He has reportedly been offered £325k a week to go to Al-Ahli. I don't think he'd be that important for any Premier League club that could afford those wages and therefore is suddenly a very unattractive prospect.

To put it into context, he'll be earning more than any Premier League footballer outside of Manchester (plus Salah). Is he that good? nope.

Possibly an attitude issue?

What a waste to his career if he goes to play in Saudi Arabia?! He can kiss goodbye to his England career. 28 years of age and in his peak years and could be forced to play a Camel Farming League. What a waste.
He won't be missed though.

would have thought the gambling suspension makes him a large risk, one little bet and missing a striker.
