Just like Potter failed to ever beat Palace.

While that is the case, neither Graham Potter or Crystal Palace involved in anything yesterday so maybe its not entirely relevant.

Think you’ve been tainted by the result. Definitely a few 5’s or 6’s amongst the team. Milner and Hinsh for example. Would have included Weiffer as a 6 but for his assist he gets a 7. Did Pedro do anything to deserve more than a 6?

The thread isn’t about de Zerbi
I was just commenting on someone who said Roberto would have been kicking water bottles around after 20 minutes. Change of tact on the touchline clearly worked 😃

That wouldn't have stopped GC from choosing another player from a 'big' club instead...
Crooks would have probably picked Pedro for hitting the post with a snap shot, but then spent the whole section explaining that Pedro needs to watch how clever and intelligent Welbeck is at his runs, shooting and his great passing to bring players into the action.

Hinshelwood is an odd one. You could argue that there were a few times Jack Harrison got the better of him one on one. Yet Hinsh and Veltman had difficult afternoons as there were constant long balls into the channels leaving him one on one. Certainly the formation leaves the full backs a bit exposed which I guess is what Dycheball was trying to take advantage of. All things considered, he did OK and certainly better than Young and Mykolenko did.

After the sending off, Hinsh bossed the game for 10 mins albeit not all of his touches came off. There were certainly glimpses of how good he can possibly be.

Whatever, it's great to have him and Mitoma back. Pair were sorely missed

I do worry about Jack a bit, all well and good being versatile but probably does need to try and nail down one position.

In the youth teams where did he play? He feels a bit to slight to me to be a fullback
The role of a full back has changed vastly ,there are a number of shorter full backs who were world class Ashley Cole comes to mind along with many others a similar size to Jack .I have met Jack Hinshelwood and it is quite surprising how much bigger he looks than when on the pitch.

What a great result . Usually very reluctant to say side won because losing side was so poor but despite us scoring 3 very good breakaway goals I think there was an element of this yesterday. They were all over us for 20mins and could well have been 2 up. After that they were very poor and just lost it in 2nd half. Everton may have excuse of pushing up when we scored 3rd but just unbelievable space Mitoma was given running out of defence for 1st and and space and backing off Welbeck for 2nd.
Steele 7 can ask no more than clean sheet
Veltman 7 Did ok . Nice in a tough away game concentrated on defending and not caught up front.
Van Hecke 7 few poor passes but limited attackers.
Dunk 7 Similar Credit for limiting attackers. Concernced when going out wide to help Hinch but was ok
Hinch 6 Credit for doing ok when out of position. Got the runaround by Harrison at start.
Milner 5 Ideal to come on to slow things down and keep possesion when we are holding on to a lead. Apart from that cant see him playing
Weiffer 6 Looked terrible to start and thankfully got better.
Pedro 6 down 1 for terrible dive that he should have got booked for.
Menteh 6 Untidy start Had been concerned most of games was just cutting inside so delighted to see him beat FB on outside. He moaned about getting subbed but so many players go down holding head so hope they realise if they do they will get subbed.
Welbeck 7 Such an intelligent unselfish player who rarely loses the ball
Mitoma. 8 What an opportunity to play against Young and he grabbed it. To me what pushed him up to MOM was the amount of defensive work he also did.

Well, despite all these horrific terrible performances, we kept a clean sheet and limited them to 1 shot on goal.

I suggest people add their own player ratings. Happy to talk football and argue for my points, but really can't be arsed if the level is going to be "Milner was a 1 in first half" or "player X couldn't find a single pass/win a single duel" pre-school stuff.
I’m happy for you not to be arsed. A pleasant surprise.

Steele 7 deserves some credit for O’Neill miss
Veltman 6 competent
Van Hecke 6 one bad error but otherwise good
Dunk 5 still rusty for me, going off his feet nearly cost us with on-pitch pen decision
Hinshelwood 6 tough day out but battled through
Milner 5 mobility issues alas
Wieffer 4 awful first half
Mitoma 8 our genius, changed the game
Pedro 6 not quite at best but decent post effort
Minteh 9 sensational talent
Welbeck 8 what a performance

Adingra 8 our forgotten man? Still class
Webster 6 solid work
Sarmiento 6 decent cameo
Gilmour 7 smooth as ever
Ayari 7 he looks a different player

Van Hecke had a horrific first 20mins also. Some missed passes that should have resulted in us going a goal down. He looked like the player he was against Newcastle away in one of his first starts for us. Awful.

However, his last 70mins was fine. But he was not an ‘8’.
That pass that failed to find Milner in the first half , leading to a VH and Milner row and almost leading to an Everton goal…..whose fault?
I’ve watched a few times and tend to think Milner , as he looked away. Thoughts ?

I would say this is a bit more accurate than OP. It's the sort of game where if we had a bad result everyone would be giving 2s and 3s, but the result papered over the performance somewhat.
