Fenerbahce president was attacked in the ground tonight and seen bleeding from his head. Apparently the scenes were so unsavoury that Fenerbahce TV blacked out their screen and stopped airing the game

Oh lor' - we haven't sent 'Mad Dog' Hughton out there to make sure we get a deal, have we?
.

P.S. There's no place in football (or the world in general) for bollox, hooliganism and violence like that.

The Special One has now issued a post match statement:

Post-match statements from our Coach Jose Mourinho

Sunday, 18 August 2024 00:18
Our coach Jose Mourinho spoke to the broadcaster after the Göztepe match, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Evaluating the match, our Coach Jose Mourinho said, “It was a difficult match, but at the same time it was clearly under our control with the score 2-0. After starting the second half, we actually had positions to score the third goal that would end the match, but then the mood and temperature of the game changed. In fact, we conceded a goal - a corner goal - from a situation where we knew we could make them happen. After that, the match was already clear. We had to fight not only against the opponent but also against the atmosphere because they were a huge driving force for the home team. We couldn't find the third goal. We had a clear position with Cenk Tosun, but Dzeko was a few centimeters behind him. "Then they achieved a draw in the last action of the match," he said.

Regarding going to the dressing room shortly before the whistle ending the first half, he said:

“What I thought there was; There were some images I watched on the iPad and I had to show them to the players during halftime. I had to choose which of those images would be. So I needed a few minutes, I went inside to prepare it.”

Has he singed yet ?

Tbh I think there is too much "agent shenanigans" happening here.

Sod him. Let's sing a different Right(wing) back.
Seems to be Fenerbahce holding out, not silly agent games.

We don't know the details but we've often held out for more money when selling. The question is whether they're moving the goalposts or not.

I think we would all love to see this go through. But we will have alternative options. We must think we have enough of a chance as we haven’t walked away yet.

As previously mentioned I’d rather see us pay another 5 million for this transfer than spend 40 million on rutter. We have needed improvement at fullback for 2/3 seasons now.

Unlikely but Cancelo on loan would be a fantastic stop gap. After signing Fati last season I don’t see anything out of the realms of possibility.

Neither do Fenerbahçe. They are now apparently chasing Fati themselves:

Well Turkey is usually the place where players go to die. Not good for a player his age to be heading to Turkey no matter how passionate the fans are the level of football isn’t great.

Did see a post from a Fenerbahce fan earlier bemoaning the fact that Kadıoğlu came off the bench and seemed to spend his time trying not to get injured.

I still think we've got a chance. He's a Dutchman at heart and we have a veritable ARMY of those for him to sit and chat with long into the night about tulips and cheese and windmills.

Although, I suppose, giving this some thought, Eric Ten Hag has spent his entire career at United attempting to recreate his glory days by signing only players who've previously been at Ajax, so that could go both ways.
