Yeah I really rate him because he has so many attributes perfect for a key role in our new system. He needs time and to put in the hard work on the training ground in the coming months which I’m sure he will

What a great win. Very worried in first 20mins when we could have been 2 down. During this time Weiffer was not in game and passing very poor, Hinch was really struggling with Harrison and Milner was contributing nothing.. So surprised Gilmore or Baleba didnt replace Milner at half time but feel manager got away with that. Pleased that Minteh showed he is willing to defend as well as attack.
Now look forward to Utd game when I dont think we will get away with Milner in MF and Hinch at LB.

Similar against QPR. Seemed to struggle at first and grew into the game. Same today. Sloppy and off the pace first 20 to 30 mins then started to get to grips with the pace and physicality. This was a step up again from QPR and also need to remember he had a long time out due to injury. Taking all of that into account, looks very promising.

If you read my posts, you'll see all I actually was saying initially is that VAR didn't implement the idea of "referee's call", despite making a lot of noise this week that this was the new high bar being set this season.
There was contact, because the players touched as both lunged for the ball. I don't think it was a penalty but it wasn't a gigantic error either as the ref was well-positioned and saw two players coming together. Supposedly we were going to live with that this season. It's a very tedious argument now - probably worse than VAR itself!

I know, as Dunk brought his left foot through. From the referee's angle it probably looked very much like Dunk swept his leg away and if Dunk hadn't made that movement, DCL probably wouldn't have stood on his foot. So, in my opinion, while it may have been an error, it wasn't 'clear and obvious'. Well aware other people will have a different opinion, that's football. As I said earlier it doesn't really square with PGMOL's stance this week on reducing VAR intervention, so I'll just repeat that here and then go to bed. Goodnight. Enjoy the win.

Back home, great day out and the fun is back. God knows it wasn't towards the end of last season but, but we got a bit lucky today. If the Penalty gets given, it's a different game and they missed a boat load in the first 20 minutes. Everton are shit.
Central midfield won't work against better teams, Weiffer was awful first 20 mins and Milner isn't the answer. On the flip side the front 4 was absolutely scintillating at times. Minteh looks brilliant and Mitoma back is like a new player. Wellbeck was probably MOM.
We could win or lose 3-0 next week. No idea.

2nd up tonight on MOTD. 
Without points deductions, Everton would have finished 12th last year and they were unbeaten in their last 5 (home?) games. Coupled with our post January 24 form last season, this was not an easy opener. We just seemed to have got that cutting edge back in the final third which showed in 2 longish range shots rather than trying to walk the ball into the net a la Arsenal lite style.
Dunk didn't lunge for the ball though - he slid to block the shot. DCL then put his foot on Dunk's when he didn't really need to.

Just suffered the long trip from Lime Street to Euston near 4 entitled Everton fans who didn't stop spouting crap for the whole journey. Apparently their new stadium is far to small for a start as they have a 30k waiting list apparently.
