I feel robbed after buying something at Starbucks...
Starbucks is, of course, utterly shit. Sadly my other half loves it. She’s a Canuck so it used to be all about Tim Horton’s until they sold their souls and ran their product into the ground. Actually McDonalds coffee is just as good nowadays.

I last bought a McDonald's coffee about 3 years ago.

It'll have cooled down enough for me to drink it in a couple of months.

You probably know this but they’re not as hot now after that very nasty accident and lawsuit.
Oh great, now I feel bad. This is why I don't post most of the jokes that pop into my head. :lolol:

That does ring a bell now that you mention it, but the bit about not ordering one for a few years is basically true so that had passed me by. Most of my visits to McDonalds nowadays are to buy cups of tea from Peterborough or Cambridge services.

Firstly, I love this forum.

To answer the thread's question - I would like to see bad language removed. I am on other forums where this rule applies and I don't think they are any weaker or less engaging or less funny as a result. Even asterisking out letters of offending words like newspapers do would be a good move. And yes, I know what the next couple of posts are going to be in response to this ;)

I know we're all adults on here, but I would like to be able to give my teenage children free access to the (often very perceptive) discussions on football and life in general, but I'm not comfortable in doing that.

I know I may be in the minority with this view, but you did ask.....

If teenagers don't see, read and say infinitely worse things than you get on here about 20times a day, then I'm both shocked and appalled at whatever's become of the youth of this country.

Worthing
I don't get involved as much as I used to but the politics of the Sussex coast has changed substantially even in the last ten years. Brighton Kemptown and Hove have gone from marginals to fairly solidly Labour while Brighton Pavilion is one of the most left wing constituencies in the country. Lewes and Eastbourne were both comfortable for the Lib Dems in July with Mid Sussex not far behind. In the meantime had I suggested the two Worthing seats would be Labour, one fairly comfortably, a decade ago I would have been laughed at but it has happened. If NSC looks a bit left leaning at times it is probably because it is from a currently centre/left leaning part of the country.

Also when I moderated back in the stone ages people used to throw around racial epithets like they were going out of fashion. It shouldn't have happened then but it really can't happen now and doesn't.

I have been on here since the late 1990s and have nothing but thanks for Dazza and his team who do a fantastic job. I have no problems with the political leanings of posters (being centre middle left myself) and find nsc a souce of great info.
There have been a succession of rather odd perma-posters over the years who seem to think that the forum is "theirs". Posting dozens of times a day and repeatedly on some threads (one poster notched up 200 posts in a little over 2 weeks on the riot thread) it's tedious, dull and smacks of self-importance. It's my biggest issue and ruins many threads. I returned after a break about 6 months ago (I'd gone for the same reason) but it's still the same, maybe worse. Ignore goes some way but then the thread of conversation is mangled. A posting limit per day or per thread would be fantastic. How many potential posters are put off Dazza will never know, but it's certainly persuaded me to view only in future.

The OP seems to have two issues.

1) NSC is too left-wing.
Steer clear of the political threads, if they make you unhappy. Surely it's that simple? There's plenty going on NSC that has nothing to do with politics. I dip into the Trump thread now and again just for the LOLs, but otherwise don't bother with the discussions that are political.

2) NSC is 'county league' standard when everything else about BHAFC is Premier League.
Not sure entirely what this means, but personally I don't want some corporate polished site that's commercially produced and run. NSC has been around for longer than the club's been in the PL – it goes back to our days stuck at the very bottom of the entire football league – and it'll still be around if we one day end up heading back there. It's not a fit-for-PL-only thing, and I'm not sure we want to ditch it for something that 'is'. It's kind of like the difference between an official programme and a fanzine, and NSC is very much the latter. (Or 'watching the match-build up on Sky' vs 'meeting mates in the pub before kick-off', if the fanzine analogy is redundant in today's digital world).
You have just reminded me of those glorious days when I lurked not just in here but on the wonderful "Bottom of the Barrel" forum which gave the opportunity for relaxed discussion with fans of other fallen giants such as Hartlepool (obsessed with slagging off "Darloid Scum") and Mansfield who hated Cheaterfi£ld more than we did. And whatever happened to "Buono" our bete noire at Leyton Orient?

I love NSC as it is.

It's an equally perfect and imperfect online pub of Brighton fans, has been since the start, and I wouldn't have it any other way. There are some posters I would really like to have a drink with IRL and others I wouldn't, so to me it's a pretty good online representation of a real pub.

But if fish puns or any other puns were not allowed anymore, I think I would have to stop coming on here.

Love this board and Bozza does a great job. My only complaint is that it's not as funny anymore.
There used to be a lot more piss taking and foolishness, people take themselves to seriously.
More nob gags please.
I'd agree with that completely. It may have something to do with my observation above. The perma-present posters aren't humorous in any way and the saturation spamming of most if not all threads kind of kills the mood

Someone will be along to say that Fish puns contribute to over fishing in already under populated waters which in turn leads to the increased use of netting which in turn kills Dolphins.

Are you happy you kill Dolphins? Are you?

You should be ashamed of yourself using fish puns. Shame on you.
