I must admit, this thread used to be a lot more fun when Palace were rubbish.

After we humped them at our place, they really got their act together and picked our pocket in placing higher than us at the end of the season. A year or two back, we were hopeful they might be genuine relegation candidates. As things stand, for all our Billy Bigbollocking about infrastructure and all, they're in just as good a position as us going into the new campaign.

It's kind of annoying that they always seem to find a way out of whatever hole they've found themselves in, but it is good for the rivalry.

Are they? They finished just above us in a season we were decimated by injuries, had European distractions and a manager that seemed to have checked out from March onwards.

And since then we’ve been spending quite a chunk of the massive transfer income we’ve been accumulating over the last 3 seasons.

You and your gaggle of goons always delight in referring to Dunk as a "sex offender", despite the indisputable FACT that he is nothing of the sort. A typical Palace trope though, never let the truth get in the way of a bit of pointscoring abuse.

Anyone hear Parish quote on TalkSport yesterday, something like well spend £10.5m on infrastructure this season and then get firms quotes on future works, then, once agreed, we’ll be cracking on in seasons to come.

My interpretation:

We’ll spend enough to keep the fans guessing but have no clue what we’ll do next or what it will cost, but may, or may not, be started next season, the season after or the season after that.

Meanwhile:

Tony Bloom and PBOBE listen to fans forum, get planning permission and build a fanzone, love this club

Palace were also decimated by injuries, in fairness. Cheick Doucoure, our best midfielder, missed nearly 200 days with a snapped Achilles. Guehi, Olise & Eze all had months out. Your manager might have checked out from March, but as much as I admire and respect Roy, I'm not sure he had ever checked in last season. I think the stresses of Premier League management had taken a heavy toll on him, and he certainly looked much healthier a few weeks after stepping away.

It's true that Andersen lacks explosive pace, but he's hardly slow either. He positions himself well, and he's strong in the air. His range of passing is outstanding (with both feet) and he's key to how Palace build out from the back. If he wasn't a very good defender, Fulham wouldn't be trying to pay £30m for him, and Palace wouldn't have rejected it.

Do I really have to dig out my folder of pictures of Lewis Dunk getting sat on his arse before conceding? I normally save that for quiet evenings when the other half goes out...

Well is it ?

There's a commonly repeated rule about fewer and less. It goes like this: fewer is used to refer to number among things that are counted, as in "fewer choices" and "fewer problems"; less is used to refer to quantity or amount among things that are measured, as in "less time" and "less effort."
