And here is a gammon MP who thinks that saying 'god is great' is some sort of threat.

There is no god, but liking her is no crime. FFS.

Although he has a lot of stiff competition, I personally think that Jenrick is the most odious, vile, detestable right wing politician of this present bunch of odious, vile , detestable right wing politicians.

I pray they make him Tory Leader, their corrupt crime syndicate, masquerading as a political party will cease to exist if they do.

Inshallah.

There's another positive from all this. Dawn raids were carried out this morning on people identified as taking part in last week's riots. Police say that 70% of them had criminal records.

Their neighbours will be quietly celebrating.
One of the only amusing things to come out of this is the absolute state of the mugshot’s of some of these twats. It’s on par with the weird ’album covers’ that were doing the rounds a few years back.

He’s most probably crying in his cornflakes morning after seeing how the vast majority of the country think the far right are utter wankers. He’s not the brightest.

Seeing the mugshots has actually made me realise the racists have got something right.

There do appear to be lower forms of humans!

I was fully supportive of those antis who turned up in Brighton last night and I wish I could have been there too.

And obviously it was important to physically demonstrate that show of strength of feeling that we don't want fascists on our streets and that we outnumber them (and by quite some considerable margin judging by the attendances on either side).

But it also shouldn't be overlooked how important that show of strength of feeling meant to those they were there to stand up for, not just to those they were standing against.

To see those crowds on the streets must have meant so much to immigrants, ethnic minorties and people of colour for whom the events of the last couple of weeks must have caused them so much fear, uncertainty, nervousness, dejection and isolation. Seeing those crowds on the streets last night will have given those communities so much joy, comfort and relef to know that people really do care about them and will be there for them when they need to be.

I think last night's attendance meant more to them than what it meant to the right wing extremists whose attitudes and behaviours will be largely unaffected by last night's events. But then again nor will ours, but if anything will have actually changed the attitudes of those who previously had reservations about the effectiveness of the counter protest, and next time may even choose to swell their ranks.

Me too, this is not the same, it’s a different game now, gone are the days of hundreds or thousands of NF marching through town thank goodness. Todays battlefield is on social media.

With someone called Musk trying to instigate violence by stating that civil war in the UK was inevitable. What a disgusting man.

Sorry to dampen the euphoria but only one form of racism on one end of the political spectrum was challenged last night.

Racism is racism and is equally abhorrent whether promoted by the left or right

Agree totally. Bigotry is bigotry.

Given Israel's war against Palestine, it's hardly a surprise that there's an anti-Semitic reaction.

maybe but there was a guy in the yellow vest that gave a sly dig to one of them when the police woman turned her back so not sure

Looked like a few more as Brett Mendoza posted a pic up of a few different ones

Maybe we should send them the bill?

It’s only a matter of time before action is taken against twitter. He’s a coward at heart and when push comes to shove he’ll cave in to demands to manage content. If not countries will start blocking twitter. He may be the richest man in the world but picking fights with prime ministers will only end up with one winner.

That’s partly the facial recognition software earning your tax pounds right there - if any of the protestors were on a police database for previous offences of any sort, they will be matched - and as I said up thread, the majority spearheading the damage/aggression at police, will already have a record of some sort. They think their hoodies and balaclavas avoid them being recognised - they have no idea how sophisticated the cctv software actually is and those that are convicted that didn’t already have a record, have now also found their way on to the database. They’ll be pegged at every demonstration in the future.

“In an interview with The Times in April, the head of the Metropolitan Police in London, Lindsey Chiswick, said that facial recognition had led to one arrest every two hours.”

What people don’t know is that someone can be tagged as in the area and put on a facial recognition watchlist just for being associated with the riots, even turning up to counterprotest or as victims.

I have always believed that the biggest cost of civil disobedience and direct action is it that it inevitably erodes our civil liberties in the long term..

Keir Starmer has promised to expand the use of facial recognition technology even more.
