Do you know, I’ve heard this one a lot. Ignoring the Daily Mail stuff, yes elderly people do use a lot of NHS services. So? They’ve paid into and contributed towards funding for the NHS through a lifetime of taxes in most cases. Is demonising elderly people more morally palatable than migrants? I’ve never understood this line of thinking.
It's quite simple: you made a claim that immigrants were using public services (prior to that, you said they've been buying houses and, subsequently, causing prices to plummet); I responded by saying that their use of public services is negligible. I'd invite you to share some stats on this.
At the same time, because you mentioned their use of public services, I mentioned that it was the elderly that use them (and immigrants and ethnic minorities that work in them). From this, you've drawn an inference that I'm demonising elderly people -- and, in doing this, look at who else on this thread is doing likewise, and see what company you're keeping.

Genuine question, you describe that graph as ‘taking asylum seekers’ are you certain that the correct terminology shouldn’t be ‘hosting refugees’ genuine question an no need for a sarcastic responses? 👍

I wasn't putting any meaning into the term I used. I attached the source so whatever it says in there

And to add to oh dear i’ve just sighted what looks like a copy of a genuine warning that there is a planned demo by the far right in Queens Road Wednesday 🤷
Fire that off to plod. They love that sort of thing, incitement to riot and such. I would but I don’t have social media

It's all over social media.

We're one city where the active far-left outnumbers the far-right considerably.

Could get ugly. I'm sure the police will be aware and they'll be a large police presence.

Euan has a secret fetish. He wants a horny policeman to turn up in the early hours and handcuff him.

That's all well and good. But it's the second part he could have avoided if he'd just gone on Gaydar instead.

Now he's going to get Big Bill in cell 24765 as part of the deal.

The elderly need the young to pay for their care and pensions when they are retired, as they paid for the generation before them. So the time that they needed it the most they haven’t actually payed for it ….

There almost seems to be some agreement on NSC that

The Asylum backlog should be cleared, doing away with large groups of Asylum seekers being put in hostels with absolutely nothing to do for increasingly longer periods, and all the costs associated with that.

The 69,000 that are granted Asylum visas pa can easily be included in the 1.2 Million immigration visas pa that the Government are currently granting.

A proper conversation needs to he held about the 1.2 Million immigrants pa and whether it's sustainable, what services/housing/etc needs improving, what the impact cutting the current number would have on the economy, services, pensions, NHS etc.

And then there's the f***wits who are trying to justify the moronic racist violence.

Fair Summary ?

And is there a difference between ‘ Hosting Refugees’ and ‘Taking asylum seekers’ because my uneducated mind suggests there is?
There could be, it may be the difference between a person being supported whilst their claim is being assessed, and those that have been assessed as genuine refugees and have the right to remain, or the difference between thise in a country that grants temporary asylum initially, and full asylum if the situation in their home country has not improved after a few years.

In international law, they can travel through a safe 3rd country, UK law is a bit grey right now, as the Rwanda bill is a mess and won't be used, but has passed. Travelling through a 3rd safe country can be used as a reason to declare the asylum claim inadmissible, but it is still not illegal to enter a country however you can in order to ask for asylum as far as I am aware.
Yes - the right to claim asylum is enshrined in international law. However, under UK law you cannot legally claim asylum if you have passed through a safe third country en-route. In reality, it's virtually impossible to do so - so the vast majority of asylum-seekers are effectively "illegal". As part of an asylum claim, the Home Office requires asylum-seekers to state why they didn't claim asylum elsewhere.

You definitely know what you’re talking about, it seems that Turkey host the most refugees as shown in a graph by @WATFORD zero, is it fair to say that whilst they host the most many of this poor people won’t stay in Turkey and will head elsewhere to claim asylum?
