Think it was probably a mixture of a few things - he wanted more say on transfers (and his track record wasn’t the best last season), his constant whining in public since January, being a very tricky character to manage on a day-to-day basis as well as the Italy dentist’s trip mid-season…

Like I said, technically he wasn't sacked. I don't think any Premier League manager has ever been sacked, technically speaking.
Generally speaking clubs aren't going to sack (technically) managers or players because they may get a compensation, or at least get rid of the wages, through the manager joining a new employer before his old contract runs out. Sacking a manager - ripping apart the contract and paying the full remainder of his wages - is very unusual.
However, in football this is often referred to as a sacking - despite it technically being wrong. Kind of like how strawberries are sometimes referred to as berries.
He is not.
It’s surely a separate compensation agreement.
Chelsea clearly didn’t want to pay the £60m or so his contract was worth over its duration so they paid a much, much lower lump sum to get rid of him. To counter this, the agreement was obviously to then pay him additional monthly compensation sums until he got another job or over the period of his former contract, whichever was the shortest.
Anyone who thinks Chelsea will need payment to get Potter’s services has clearly just finished a super strong bifter! That’s not the reason he is still unemployed. His record as Chelsea manager can account for his inactivity.

They wouldn't likely ask for it - getting rid of what they're paying would probably be good enough unless they're greedy (but they seem more of the generous sort). But technically speaking it is the same scenario. A club or nation wanting Potter would have to approach Chelsea.
Your (obviously completely agenda free) narrative that not a single club in the entire world wants him because his Chelsea record is possible. Its not relevant however because its not what we're discussing.
Because, like the rest of us, Marseille understood the nuance of not technically sacked, but left by 'mutual consent' (but without RDZ having any other option, other than resigning, which would have lost him a whole chunk of money).

His record of turning down a number of fairly decent proposals as he lays back on his sun lounger, waiting for the England job, and receiving a decent monthly wedge whilst doing it accounts for his inactivity imo. I don’t think his Chelsea record has anything to do with it.

There is no way RDZ would have been able to have conducted himself in the way he did (speech to the fans at the Amex etc) if he didn’t want to leave. In fact, he’d been threatening to leave for months. He’d have gone off like a nuclear bomb if he had have been sacked, he was not fully in control of his emotions.
It was one of the most mutual decisions I’ve ever seen in football.
I don’t know why a mutual separation is so unacceptable and unbelievable to some (other than NSC’s resident conspiracy theorist from a galaxy far, far away).

I think Mason Greenwood had a real part to play in De Zerbi going. RDZ clearly lacks moral backbone and I can imagine Bloom and co being baffled by any suggestion of signing him. De Zerbi was calling MG every day and "treating him like a son" - the fact that Greenwood is even able to play football at all and is not in prison for a long time is a disgrace, and enablers like RDZ are nearly as bad. Really glad he's gone.

And very selective seeing as we played 8 Europa League and 3 FA Cup games in the same period, which Hughton didn’t. I suspect if you created a spreadsheet you’d get a similar stat for periods of Potterball, but to do so would be selective and incredibly sad.

Yup, another reason why he was sacked. And his end of season backpedaling when he realised no good club wanted him wasn't enough. No mercy from Tony. Sacked the lad and still got at least some of the money we wanted. Good business as usual.
