I believe it's illegal to buy these types of knifes already:

Under the measures, first announced by the Prime Minister last year and laid before Parliament today, it will be illegal to possess, sell, manufacture or transport these zombie-style knives and machetes.

It is illegal to carry any knife in public without good purpose, carrying a sentence of 4 years in prison, and, in 2016, the government banned zombie knives, whilst cyclone knives were banned in 2019.
Yet, when they found a 16 year old with a knife on the way to football, he got a "Youth Referral Order, with £40 costs and a £22 victim surcharge." That's what needs to change.

Needs a clamp down? (Pun intended) Or are we still too sensitive to stop and search re racial profiling?
Plenty of stop and searches happen in the city centre. There is criteria to be met. Ethnicity isn’t part of the criteria.

I’ve had three people come at me with knives and one with a screwdriver.

All were white. Three were English.

I've had one person come at me with a knife (of the standard kitchen variety) and she was a white female in her sixties, if we're going with demographics. (i worked on a hospital ward, i should clarify that here!) I legged it out of the room quick smart, shut the door and held it shut, and my colleague called the police, who turned up in riot gear and pinned her against the back wall, de-weaponing her in the process.
It was a very easy decision to make, bollocks to her safety if she's going to self harm etc, i'm protecting myself first, and then my colleagues.

and theres me wishing he'd have fallen off, in doing so falling on his blade and gutting himself and then getting pancaked by the following motor. That'd learn him!
There are times when roadkill isn't such a bad thing!

looked like a prat with a plastic toy to me.

i think if someone brandished something that looked like that at me I would tell them to f*** off home and get back to playing "world of warcraft".

.... but I can understand people's concerns.

See I was always told that when faced with a deranged or irate female, to GIVE her a knife. Instinct will kick in, and she'll make you a sandwich.

Did he have a zombie knife or machete (see the post to which you reply)? I would not expect someone frisked and found to have a knife (pen kinfe?) in his pocket to get the same sentence as someone waving around a machete. Not all criminal acts are exactly the same warranting exactly the same penalty.

If the courts are not properly punishing those found with machetes and zombie knives, that is a serious matter, but it won't be resolved by whaboutery.

What are the actual data on penalties for zombie/machete possession I wonder?

We could, but it would have little to no effect on crime and would just mean our prisons are even more overcrowded.
I agree to an extent but we've built a society of young people who have quickly realised there's little to no repercussions when they commit crime, you can rob from tesco while the security just watch and people film or turn the other way or you can attack police then play victim when you're met with force.

America shows that incarceration doesn't reduce crime but I feel like we're at a tipping point where if we don't come down tough on offenders our towns will become no go areas. I've slowly watch the beautiful town I moved to and raise a family decline where now it's a hang out for degenerates, gangster wannabes and shoplifters.

"A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "We can confirm the item in his possession was a plastic toy; not a knife."

As called by several of the more sensible NSCers on this thread.
