I guess there's an advantage to practicing on the Olympic course every day.

Silver is good though.

Watching the gymnastics. Not sure what I think of it as a 'sport' but definitely an astonishing demonstration of what the human body is capable of. Pretty sure I heard one of the commentators say that a move 'isn't as easy as it looks'. What? I genuinely don't think it would be possible for ANY of this to be harder than it looks, given that it all looks impossible.

I was watching it as well, and it really IS a sport, albeit subject to judges opinions. Have you not seen how stacked all these blokes are?!!

Thought the TV coverages was a bit ropey though. There were a couple of occasions where the BBC team were reduced to giving audio descriptions of the routines whilst the French TV producer thought it’d be more interesting getting camera angles of the gymnasts and coaches on the sidelines not actually doing anything.

Was it a female commentator? Women have a different perspective. They can bend their legs eight laps around their own shoulders, shrug and say "it is what it is". Its like a different species in that regard.

Skateboarding now.

My instant take, is that grown ups on skateboards look STUPID.
I watched the female final yesterday, and they were all children. Literally, the oldest girl looked about 16.

I hope they keep the Dutch beach volleyball team well away from them in the village.

Because the BBC don’t want to pay the going rate and are limited to what they can show ,

Can pay it back during the Winter Olympics 😉

This is exactly it. I'm firmly behind Team Canada in the Winter Olympics.

Canada have just picked up a gold though.

Without scrolling back through the previous comments, can someone explain how a swimming pool can be described as not particularly fast, is it uphill both ways?

Depth of the pool apparently. This one is shallower so there's a bit more turbulence at the surface (and so slower times) than in deeper pools.
