[Politics] The Labour Government

This was all predicted by several nsc’ers many months ago.

Corbyn fanboys will try to hijack Labour government good news and general UK politics discussion threads. It’s called p1ssing on the parade, from envy. For the next 5 years.

Perhaps the moderators might look at this at some stage. The same tiny number of posters attempting to derail Labour threads to Gaza at every turn.

There’s an incredible amount of tangible domestic and our relationship with the EU wrongs to right.
This.
All of this ^

Funding is usually based on projected numbers in the future though. Money doesn’t have to be “in the bank” to be spent, if it is costed and funded from saving in another area. Say they are projecting saving £500m from enacting/scrapping X policy, they don’t need that money to actually come in to crack on with getting the ball rolling with enacting Y policy. Especially if funding is ringfenced over a long period of incremental increases in line with growth

Most recently from the left, I agree, but this thread was started as a pile on from the right and most early posts were from there.

It will continue swinging between posters who ironically have far more in common than they'd like to admit.

5 years of pissing on the parade and desperation from both sides. Lovely

Nothing to be worried about then, that's OK.

I'll email the IFS and suggest they get their shop in order.

You haven't provided any evidence, you complete arse. I'm putting you and your silly anti-Labour propaganda bollocks on ignore. If you want to liberate Palestine you need allies. You might get some on the left (where I am) but if you carry on appealing to the anti-Jew nutters, your hopes and dreams will be forever dashed.
What's your definition of an "anti-Jew nutter"?

Is it anybody who speaks out for the thousands of Palestinian women and children being indiscrimately slaughtered by the extreme right-wing state of Israel? Or is it just anybody who doesn't support netanyahu and all he stands for?

You are doing what I have pleaded on here, and in other places, that you shouldn't do. You are conflating support for Palestine with being an antisemite. Your outlook and attitude is emboldening the divide. As Zeberdi has pointed out many times, many Jews are against netanyahu's slaughter and have spoken out about it. I have met Jews on pro-Palestinian marches.

Just because I have compassion for the people of Palestine it does not make me an antisemite. This is an "Israel thing" not a "Jew thing" and I will carry on trying to educate those who still don't understand.

It took some time, but I thought they'd finally got to grips with the weather.

Seems that's not the case, and it's all turned to shit again.

Starmer out!

The bloke who thinks that an absence of evidence against equals evidence for. And therefore is happy to create a slur.

I’m sure the Israeli kidnap victims and the relatives of those murdered, as well as those being bombed and assaulted and pulled from pillar to post in various parts of Gaza are delighted that you’ve got their backs on a football forum dedicated to *checks notes* Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

The point that Zeb, Harry and multiple others have made almost endlessly with varying degrees of success is:

Picking a side and then trying to shout down anyone who sees things differently is simply prolonging conflict, there is no solution achievable while both sides hold entrenched and immovable positions.

I’ve watched Zeberdi get battered from pillar to post on the Israel/Gaza thread, because he’s not anti-Israel enough for the “why won’t the nasty Israeli bullies stop picking on those poor defenceless Palestinians” crew, and yet isn’t pro-Israel enough for the “we must fight without mercy until every last Hamas operative responsible for the Oct 7 2023 atrocities has been killed” gang. There will be no solution while both sides refuse to engage with nuance.

If you’ve picked a side, you’re part of the ongoing problem, and will not form part of any solution. Indeed, unless you’re actually an Israeli or Palestinian citizen, it’s not really your battle to get involved in.

Yet somehow, a small minority of under-employed nobbers on both sides of the argument have decided that this blood-soaked horror show is somehow the responsibility of the British Prime Minister. It is not. The only support that matters to Israel is US support. What one of America’s tiny satellite states thinks is of deeply limited interest to both sides actually involved.

By all means debate it to your hearts content on the Israel/Gaza thread, but it’s not a key issue for the British government, and nor should it be. We have to find a diplomatic way to ask American multinationals if we can please have some of our tax revenue back.

TLDR - probably for the best

Ahh but they are not bowing to the back benches and are keeping the two child cap on benefits, apparently that crazy chancellor will not implement such changes if she can’t say where the apparent 3bn would come from, Reeves out 😉😉

It's should be a key issue for the UK government

1)We helped create the situation in the first place
2) We sell huge amount of arms to Israel - around half a billion since 2015.
3) Israel has significant influence in the Labour Party. Top donors are Israel lobbyists.
4) Many of the front bench are in LFI
5) Certain MPs appear to to be parachuted in or demoted based on their attitudes to Israel. e.g Luke Akehurst.

This all to prop up a far right Apartheid state, that is for sure committing war crimes and potentially genocide.

No world issues are going to be solved on NSC (who has claimed they will) but personally I do what I can to show people unfamiliar with the situation to understand how much Israel unduly influences our politics (much worse in the US) and as a consequence allows the horrific mistreatment of Palestinians to continue for decades.
