[Music] On The Beach - Music Festivities

Has anyone been yet? I know the first was yesterday, Bicep were incredible yet again. Wasn't sure if their new chroma productions would be for me, but, very pleasently surprised, they smashed it. Palms tax also were good and the warm up Dj's played some decent sets, but nothing out of this world.

Downside to On The Beach is it's a bloody rip off inside there, and the sound is shite unless you stood at the halfway speaker and screen (as near the front is too much in terms of space etc).

Libertines next weekend on the Sunday, my brothers mates band are supporting (Chappaqua Wrestling).

Anyone on here go last night?

Did Royal Blood last year. Won’t be rushing back. Sound is terrible as is the organisation and prices.

I went last night. I love Bicep, I have seen them several times, and they are always brilliant.

Last night was a little disappointing, though. As alluded to above, the sound was dreadful - very, very quiet. We moved back past the midway speakers and it was better, but still nothing like loud enough - Bicep need to be LOUD!

They didn’t play Water or Meli II - also disappointing.

The light show was brilliant, as always, and there were some great moments, but we came out a bit underwhelmed.

The venue itself is awful - a pathetic amount of toilets, with crushes going in and out, for such an enormous crowd. And way too few bars, which were all enormously overpriced.

We are going to The Libertines next week - but wouldn’t bother if we hadn’t already got our tickets.

On The Beach is not an event I will bother with in future.

My thoughts exactly.

Had a good time overall yesterday, sound was bad right at the front so moved further back. Going again next Friday

I'm guessing you can stand on Madeira Drive and listen. You could see the stage from there the other day, unless they've erected screens since.

As for Libs V Charlatans, it's all about Pete Doherty, love him or loathe him he's an iconic figure, plus the Charlatans, whose hit includes The Only One I Know, are unKnown to anyone under the age of 100 years.

There were quite a few people up on Marine Parade, who will have had a brilliant view of the light show.

I’d imagine they heard little, though, as we could barely hear inside.

Quite why anyone would want to stand on Madeira Drive, by a huge green wall, and listen to the muffled sounds on the other side…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be for me.

Pete Doherty‘s let himself go a bit. He looked better when he was on the gear.

I went the first year it was on and the venue was so bad I said I wouldn't go again. And I haven’t. The most badly organised ‘festival type’ gig I’ve been to. And unless they have made major changes to how the thousands of people leave the beach, it was dangerous.

We could have a look at the list of albums but I accept your wrong opinion :lolol:
That’s where I was going. 13 studio albums, releasing one on average every 2 or 3 years over the last THIRTY FIVE years. Each and everyone as good as or better than the previous, not a duff one among them.
Not to mention Tim Burgess is seriously a number one top bloke.

It’s all personal opinions, and I hope everyone that goes enjoys The Liberties. However I’ll be on the 14 by then as I’ve got dog sitting duty next weekend so can’t be out all day.
