For those of you that are going and think they may be charged for using their card abroad, I’ve seen in Asda that their Travel Money Card can be loaded with Yen and is free to use including at ATMs.

They also have a promotion on where if you spend £650+ (double that online) you get an extra £15 added to the card. The guy there (at Hollingbury) said he has some Yen in as well. Thought it was worth sharing as £15 may get a couple of pints of Ashai 😀

Cash is the way to go not many places take cards.

Wow.

I lived there 20 years ago and that was undoubtedly true. I would have thought that such a tech savvy but Covid safe nation would have moved on.
I've got a friend who has a company that manufactures some sort of water filter (I've not engulfed the details). He was about to buy a small similar company in Japan, when he realised under his visit that their office was entirely analogue. They seem to be quite selective in their tech savyness.

Flying in to Osaka tomorrow evening, slowly making our way towards Tokyo next week for the games.

Does anyone know if there are any events/meetups have been lined up?
From the Argus yesterday:-

As far as I am aware, the club hasn't publically released ANY details about arrangements up to now. I have to say, I think the club could do a much better job at communicating these events in a timely fashion; last summer (in the States) when they finally got round to announcing events they had planned (public training session, social events) I'd already made my travel plans and had no chance of attending.

This morning it suddenly seems a smart move to not be relying on US multinationals for your business to operate.

We're having quite a disturbed summer this year, yes we've got some potentially very good players in, (best for me is Wieffer) but both German boys want to leave, Verbruggen injured and now Pedro not going on Tour (I know it could be any reason, but it doesn't look good). All under a brand new Manager who let's face it, is a big risk and with a tough start to the league! I don't know, but at the moment my mojo ain't great.

If it’s any help I have a strong feeling we haven’t concluded our business. I have no inside info on this or anything, but I can see us adding a couple more.

Up until this month the Japanese government were reliant on paper files and floppy disks but have now decided to move on to digital formats.

Is Ferguson injured?
Ferguson is or rather was injured - its the ankle injury that ruled him out at the end of last season but he is now training again. So presumably not ok for Japan but a few weeks away from full training/getting back to match fit. (likewise Solly has also been doing light training for a couple of weeks)
