I was in exactly the same boat as the feed is grainy and if I was where Adrian was I would have been just as clueless. He has the same view as someone in the crowd at best. It's not like Sky where they have micro technology sitting in front of them and a view as clear as you and I can see the screen now.

That's why I give him so much slack. But it's not just that. For older listeners (I suppose I'm getting there) he is such a friendly voice. His gaffs are part of the package. There probably would be better. He's not Johners and CMJ, but he'll do.

And everyone gets it free (unless you have a membership like me but never go anyway)

Disappointing today but maybe not a bad thing in the greater scheme of things. You learn from your defeats.
We were 20 short and our back up bowlers were taken to the cleaners.

It was only when I was home and watching the highlights I appreciated it was basically a fast off cutter.

And thanks to stump microphones the TV viewer has a much better idea on thin caught behind appeals than people who’ve spent over £100 to be in the ground.

At county level the commentators are on par with the in ground fans and not the Sky viewers.

Sky have their cabin pitchside, but even then they would rely on the screens for a lot of it. I can watch the TV screen and immediately say 'that's out' when the ball strikes the pad and be right most times. I couldn't do that from 45 degrees on the boundary edge. They are watching the screens.

I was listening to a podcast about the 1981 ashes a few months ago, one of the things that was highlighted was how blatantly nonsensical a lot of the TV commentary was in those days compared to what we're used to now.

I think for some county matches Sky do now just commentate from a studio in London rather than even going to the game.

I do think the commentary on the streams could be improved though, in terms of the style if not accuracy. The viewing figures really aren't that impressive and it has crossed my mind on more than one occasion that while it might be a nice gentle thing to watch if you're already into it, I can't imagine them having much appeal to the non or newly converted.

The Essex match today had 13,000 at one point. Surrey matches have a lot, but we don't talk about them.

The best stream I have seen was the Middlesex one. Ironic given their woes. Twas almost HD quality.

1981 was my introduction to cricket. But I'll stop there before I write an essay about it.

And why should there be any major difference in the quality? I understand the test grounds will have bigger stands to get better camera angles, and there'll always be some variation in the commentators, but it shouldn't be beyond the wit of man (or the ECB) to spend some money to at least provide a consistently decent level of quality on the image side of things.

I'd like you to imagine I've written a moan about how much they were prepared to spend on the Hundred here, because I can't be bothered to actually write it.

Gave up membership because county games poorer quality and mostly played in April May and September. However have watched a lot on live stream which many times has stopped me attending. Very good service and of course only shows wicket to wicket but really find it hard to understand how they offer this as a free service. It must stop people attending and am sure the many that watch would pay for this which is available for every non telivised Sussex game
