Don’t get me wrong, in no way shape or form did I vote for Reform, however, Farage’s commentary around the erosion of British values does strike a note.
Best get anyone who doesn’t pay heed to British values on one of Reform’s lists. They need to be dealt with.

Then your mother clearly didn’t fit the description of the sort of behaviour I was referring to did she. You failed to mention she actually wanted to serve on the Council.
Probably more accurate to describe what I am referring to as “Dummy Candidates” (who are also real peoole btw) to avoid confusion/upset however, Paper Candidates are often fielded with no wish to be elected

No need to take it so personally anyway - it was a criticism of the general practice of ‘paper candidacy’ when it is simply to increase the exposure of the Party or a means of taking votes away from genuine Candidates etc that I was making - not a comment on your specific circumstances. Smaller parties (groups like Reform ) get a disproportionate coverage of their campaign messaging by putting a ‘name’ on every ballot - I think it does a disservice to the electorate if, unlike your Mum, those ‘names’ were in name only and weren’t engaging in any other way with the electorate that they are asking votes for - it doesn’t matter if they get 3 votes - that is 3 people who are using their franchise to vote for them because they would like to be represented by them however unlikely that might be.

I was asked to stand as a 'paper candidate' in my village a number of years ago for the district council. I didn't. Good job too, because I would have been elected. I've often joked about how a call from Mrs Postlethwaite about the pot holes would have been met with confusion the following day and her saying 'Well, you are the local councilor'

Trust Nigel to get the tone wrong in the commons on his first speech.
He's going to get far less coverage now as a real MP in the "cheap seats", so will use the opportunity to say something divisive to get media coverage.
Something even Mark Francois pointed out today. He already looks incredibly uncomfortable there.
Farage was seething after standing down candidates to allow Johnson a free run. He expected a knighthood, but didn't get as much as a lunch or a £20 Waitrose voucher.
This election was all about revenge.
I'm not sure what's left of the Conservatives are going to forgive him any time soon and if he doesn't deliver for his Clacton constituents there will be trouble.
I suspect both Tice and Farage will get bored very quickly.
Personally, I like to see Parliament with a larger proportion of independents.
