He told us he'd be dealing with that on "Day One".

It's one broken promise after another...:ROFLMAO:

I suppose there’s a difference between “seeking to deal with” and “resolving” 🤣🤣

He has been dealing with it on day one

From the article you linked to, he said:

“If there’s a Labour government on the fifth of July, one of my first calls will be to the junior doctors’ representatives,” Streeting told BBC TV in an interview. “I’ll be asking the department straight away to initiate the urgent resumption of talks so we can negotiate an end to the strikes once and for all.”

And according to his tweet he spoke yesterday he spoke to the BMA.

Sounds to me like he has done what he said he would do?

It's also a way of packing the House of Lords with Labour appointees so serves two purposes.
They need to, its Tory heavy at the moment.

Yeah, there was a good interview with him in the Big Issue recently, he comes across very well.
Also heard him on a radio programme some while ago, he spoke for around 20 minutes or so explaining Timsons philosophy on working with ex prisoners. Some really quite amazing stories.

A great appointment, who would ever imagine putting people into positions where their life experiences matched with their job requirements.

??? 410 odd MPs and Starmer is appointing Lords for ministers? is this lack of faith in the intake, or novel approach of using experienced people?
If it is using the right people, and not a favour to a donor, its a good idea.

I don't like this whole "lets appoint people with experience in the specific field to the head of govt".

It's much more fun when it's as before
"Good evening Janet"
"Hello Prime minister"
"Janet, you know what a huge fan I am of your work in the banking sector and your extensive work as a lecturer on economic analysis before becoming an MP. And it is that expertise that I want to use in my cabinet"
"Oh. This is such an honour, never did I dream of being The Chancell"
"Congratulations Janet. You are the new foreign secretary"
Yes, but what is the tune please?

Interesting reading their housing plans. Not good news for the South Down and Worthing in particular. A return to shared housing targets effectively means everywhere (no matter how crowded already it is) has to contribute the same share as a % of their current housing. Sounds fair in theory but ignores the fact there is a lot more space further North.

It has also dropped levelling up from their housing policy title because this won't help. More and more houses will get poured into the South East, filling field after field because that is where house builders get more value.

Short sighted in my view. One of the few good things the Tories did was the levelling scheme. It was starting to work, certainly for the Midlands where house prices were catching up. To abandon that is a problem for protecting the South Downs and beyond.

So the housebuilding needed shouldn't happen near where you are, but should definitely happen somewhere else?

I have to say that this my only worry about this Government I hope that houses that get built are social housing that stay in the council portfolio rather then more poorly overpriced privet estates.

Doesn't appear that hopeful according to this:

Do you actually know what the levelling up programme actually was?

Not announced the specifics have they? When you say "'interesting reading their housing plans" do you mean "interesting reading someone else's assumptions on what their housing plans could be?"

Levelling up was nonsense.

They've spunked huge amounts on a bowls club, skate park and park on wealthy West Hove seafront, a place so undeserving of levelling up that many of its residents tutted into their hummus at the plans. And where there was already a park, skate park and bowls club.

Meanwhile, actual shitholes were ignored to the point where their residents voted for those mad Nazis, Reform.

Rishi Sunak was recorded as promising that down at heel area, Tunbridge Wells, some funding from the levelling 'up' fund.
It was well documented that money would go to constituents with Tory MPs, rather than areas that needed it.

I thought it would be better than the Tories.

I'm surprised at how much better so far, but also I think that reflects on just how utterly dreadful those final few years under the Tories were.

I'm glad someone else has echoed my thoughts on this - I got a bit shot down for being a kill joy a few months ago for saying it seemed a complete disregard for areas that really needed it.

The Padel courts will likely be £50 per hour, so really accessible for the average income family.
