Grandaddy are making a return, new album Blu Wav comes out Friday next week. First since 2017 and Kevin Garcia’s passing. I’ll be giving it a listen.
I was unaware of this and it's made my day.

Back to the topic.

Lovely to see Throwing Muses and Talking Heads mentioned a few times. Definitely top 3 for me. And both represented in nice framed pictures in my flat.

Beyond that whoever I am listening to at the time. Most of which has been mentioned in the thread.

A few to add.

Carefully selected Guided By Voices (there are loads of magnificent songs and loads of rubbish ones)
American Music Club (everything, so probably my 3rd choice if I absolutely had to stick to the rules)
Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon if I'm feeling really down in the dumps.

There’s a single already available to listen to. Interesting blue grass influence.
I think Grandaddy just get better the more you listen to them- I keep coming back to Sumday in particular.

Great choices, really interesting music.
What about Songs Ohia / Magnolia Electric Co.?

Very jealous of that.

Similarly I saw Sonic Youth play the entirety of Daydream Nation at the Roundhouse. Fantastic but those album only concerts do take away some of the spontaneity.
To an extent yes, but if you’ve seen them doing whatever before it’s a must see IMO, the visuals provided were superb as well. Good for the dedicated fan. That’s similarly one I am incredibly very jealous of, never saw them before they broke up, have seen Moore and Gordon solo though.

Good shout.
Agreed. As was your mention of The Lemonheads. Evan Dando is an underrated writer. I went down a YouTube rabbit hole a while back and found that he and Juliana Hatfield had done some shows together that had passed me by.

'Patience is like bread I say,
I ran out of that yesterday.'

Lovely stuff:

Very much so

And Idaho and Spain ... Pretty much acts named after places
Blue Moods of Spain?

That was a great album.

Never actually realised they did more after that, but have just Googled and seen there’s a whole bunch of stuff to check out. 👍🏻

Fountains of Wayne
The Roots
Weezer

Edit: Adding the Roots instead of Ben Folds Five

I would suggest Wu Tang but this isn't that kind of thread is it.

Blue Moods Of Spain is my favourite one but they're all good. 'The Soul Of Spain' is probably my second favourite, somewhat more upbeat than Blue Moods but that's obviously not very difficult.

Whilst my favourite 3 would come from

Interpol
Queens of the Stoneage
The National
The Strokes

For most important I'd put forward

Talking Heads - appreciate David Byrne more and more with each passing year
Velvet Underground
The Beach Boys

Nod to Nirvana also.
